Charles E. Stanfield, 87, of Bloomington went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 29, 2010. He was the son of Charles and Stella (Roberts) Stanfield born on February 5, 1925 in Pike County, Indiana. He married Marybell Louden on May 25, 1966. Charles retired from the Illinois Central Railroad after 45 years of service. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was an avid coin collector and craftsman at making dolls. He loved his bird houses and enjoyed fishing. Charles is survived by his daughter Patricia Buker (Noel) of Avon, IN; two grandchildren Meri Lyn Bisch (Stephen) of St. Louis, MO and Philip K. Lucas (Rebecca) of Avon, IN; five great-granddaughters Kersten and Rachel Lucas and Charlee, Stevie Lyn and Robbie Noel Bisch; one niece Nancy McDaniels of Bloomfield, IN; and one sister-in-law Wilma Tincher of Bedford, IN. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marybell Stanfield, five brothers Douglas, James, Harry, Hershel and Reuel Stanfield and two sisters Marjorie Espy and Fern Gonterman. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Peterson officiating. Entombment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens with military rites conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
