Elmer Douglas Eads, 94 of Bloomington passed away Monday February 13, 2012 at Monroe Hospital. He was born in Monroe County on December 21, 1917 to Elmer Clinton and Hulda McVey Eads. Elmer was a 1937 graduate of Smithville High School. He spent his professional career working for the City of Bloomington and Monroe County in different quarries; worked 10 years for RCA and farmed continuously during his work for these various companies. Elmer leaves behind his son Ronald Gene Eads and his wife Jeanie of Bedford' daughter Carolyn Kay Miller and her husband Dan of Springville; daughter Rogenia Heichelbech Cox of Bloomington; son Douglas Burton Eads and his wife Brenda of Bloomington; sister Nancy Yount of Darlington, Indiana. Elmer was the proud "gramps" to 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren who also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 71 years Ruth E. Eads, five sisters and one brother. Funeral services for Elmer will be conducted Friday February 17, 2012 at 11:00AM at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37. Rev. Greg Eads will officiate and burial will follow at the Knights Of Pythias Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday February 16, 2012 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM also at Allen Funeral Home and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.

    Many prayers for your family in your time of loss. Ruth and Elmer were regulars back in the day when I worked at McDonald's while going to college. I remember both had such sweet smiles.
