G. Kenyon “Ken” Posson, age 80, passed away on July 23, 2010 at Bloomington Hospital. He was born on September 20, 1929 to Gail Kenyon Posson and Cornelie (Kilbey) Posson of Oak Park, IL. Ken came to Bloomington in 1960 and worked at RCA while starting a lawn maintenance business. In 1964 he bought property east of Bloomington on north Smith Road and Kenlawn Garden Center was formed. For 34 years he enjoyed providing quality nursery stock, gardening supplies and advice to the residence of Monroe and surrounding counties as well as the Indiana University campus. Those that worked for and patronized Kenlawn over the years became like an extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Gail Kenyon Posson and Cornelie (Kilbey) Posson and brother-in-law Dr. I. Taylor “Tad” Rieger. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bloomington and The Elks Lodge #446. Mr. Posson is survived by his wife Jacqueline (Reda) Posson of Bloomington - they would have been married 59 years on September 1st; his son Todd Kenyon Posson and daughter-in-law Julie (Shepley) Posson of Bloomington; grandchildren John Posson of Bedford, Ashley Posson of Athens, GA & Erica Posson of Bloomington; great grandchildren Jacob and Hailey Posson of Bloomington; sister Betty (Posson) Rieger of Bloomington; two nieces Sherri (Rieger) Williams, & Corri (Rieger) Morgan; nephew Mark Rieger; brother-in-law Mike Aldous of Elmhurst IL; niece Julie (Aldous) Drews & nephew Michael Aldous. Funeral services for Ken will be held Tuesday July 27, 2010 at 1:00PM at Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37. Visitation will also be held Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home from 11:00AM until the time of the service at 1:00PM. Burial will follow the services at Valhalla Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomington Animal Shelter.
