Gayllis E. May age 74 of Smithville passed into the arms of
Jesus on Saturday July 2, 2011 at 9:05PM a blood bought Child of
God who loved the Lord and reading the word until he went blind, he
still praised his God. He was born October 11, 1936 to Sherman J.
and Nellie Hillenburg May. He is survived by his wife Shirley A.
Hoene May to whom he was married for 54 years as of June 15, 2011;
sons Timmy G. (Debbie) May, Terry May and Tim Fleener; daughters
Treasa Hatton and Randy, Tena Franklin and David; five precious
granddaughters he loved so dearly, April May, Amy Peterson and
Shane, Amber Griffin and David, Ashley May and Richard Goodroad,
Alicia May and Brad Robinson; three grandsons Dave Franklin and
Jennifer, Daniel Franklin and Tiffany, and Andrew Franklin, and one
precious gift from God a great granddaughter Caroline Margaret
Griffin born 100 years to the day after Gayllis's mom; four
brothers Ralph May and Sue, Charles May and Janie, Jervis May and
Delmar May; three sisters Phyllis May, Glenda Krebbs and Roger,
Deretha Riddle and Jim; two aunts Mildred Hillenburg and Pansy
Arthur. Gayllis worked 42 years in the mills Bloomington Limestone.
Anyone who needed a helping hand Gayllis was always there to help
at whatever was needed. He loved fishing, mushroom hunting, hunting
and all his friends gathering for weiner roasts. He loved his
family and friends, and his several nieces and nephews as well. He
loved to praise and worship God daily. But praise God there will be
no more sickness or shortness of breath, a brand new body he has
today. He can see again, hear again and breathe without suffering
and he wants everyone of his loved ones to come and see him when
their time comes. Funeral services for Gayllis will be held Friday
July 8, 2011 at 2:00PM at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old
Highway 37 with Rev. J. Bruce Kelly officiating and nieces and
nephews providing the musical tribute. Visitation will also be held
Friday July, 8, 2011 from 10:00AM until the time of the service at
2:00PM. Burial will be in the Smithville Cemetery. The family would
like to send a heartfelt thanks to Southern Hospice Care staff
members April, Jennifer, Lisa, Laura and especially Chris Shepper
who went beyond the call of duty in caring for Gayllis. Online
