Geneva Elizabeth (Waldrip) Cain passed away on her 93rd birthday, July 19, 2010 at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford, Indiana. She was born on July 19, 1917 to Stokley Donald and Leatha Pearl (Deckard) Waldrip in Monroe County. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. She was loved by everyone she met, especially her immediate family and church family.
She was a former employee of Indiana University custodial services and a longtime member of the Burgoon Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Mildred Joan Thompson of Bloomfield and Venetta Jane Cain of Bloomington, one son, Dwight Lee (Lorene) Cain of Bloomington, three sisters; Bernice Stephens of Daleville, In, Margaret Jacobs and Betty Sowder, both of Bloomington. She is also survived by grandchildren Forrest Eric (Janet) Thompson of Bloomfield, Terry L (Karen) Cain and Donna Cain of Bloomington, Tina (Mike) Arnett of Spencer, one step-granddaughter, Sharon (Sonny) Scrogham of Spencer, great grandchildren Forrest Eric Thompson of Bloomington, Jacob Logan Thompson of Bloomfiled, Jimmy (Donna) Langley of Spencer, Ashley Arnett of Bloomington, Kyle Arnett of Spencer and Mary West of Jasper, Indiana. Her great, great grandchildren are Austin, Corbin and Kirsten Langley of Spencer and Peyton and Braylon Arthur of Bloomington. She is also survived by six step-grandchildren and seven step-great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond H. Cain, one son-in-law, Forrest Gene Thompson, one great grandson, Jerick Lee Thompson, one step-grandson, Darrell Gene Thompson and one step-granddaughter, Janice Ann Thompson, three sisters, Lela Frye, Ruby Walden and Mertie Eads and three brothers, Noble Waldrip, Frank Waldrip and Hanford Waldrip.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Allen Funeral Home with Rev.’s Harold Godsey and Guy Armstrong officiating. Burial wil be at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour preceding the services on Thursday.
