Phyllis Joan Hickam, 85 of Bloomington passed away early Friday morning February 11, 2011 at the Bell Trace Health and Living Center. She was born in Bloomington on January 25, 1926 to Ralph Harrell and Bessie Richeson Harrell-Oliver. Phyllis enjoyed being a volunteer at the Bloomington Hospital for more than 30 years. Her hobbies were needlepoint, counted cross-stitch and reading. Phyllis is a member of the First United Church, Pi Beta Phi social sorority, Tri Kappa sorority, and the Conversation Club. She is survived by her husband Richard Hickam of Bloomington; 3 daughters, Becky (Denny) Houghton, Ann Linthicum, and Kathy (Steve) Mishler. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Allison Van Buren Harrell. Funeral services for Phyllis will be held Monday February 14, 2011 at 11:00AM at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday February 13, 2011 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM also at Allen Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Masonic Home Foundation or the First United Church Endowment Fund.
